工作是人生中不可或缺的一部分,或者學生們未必明白當中原因。當我們畢業後,即使家庭背景好得很,假若欠缺了工作,我們的時間會不知怎地去使用。工作還可以帶給我們金錢、成就、興趣、見識,可能還會遇到愛情及友情。為自己選擇正確的工種及公司也是一門高深但無可避免的學問,不少人會像我一樣嚮往隨興所致的工作,但有些人總會很現實地找尋世界上的好工,以求令自己快人一步、理想達到。我不認為哪一種價值觀有對錯之分,但的確有組織會進行「全球最佳僱主」之類的調查,網頁公司Google經常名列前茅,到過該公司總部參觀的人都會對其福利及建設歎為觀止。電影在總部進行拍攝,並以實習生招聘的橋段把社會上的競爭縮影在個多小時的電影內。Billy(Vince Vaughn飾)和Nick(Owen Wilson飾)在被解僱後找尋新的工作,在差勁的面試表現下意外地獲Google聘用為實習生,但與一眾對手在年齡上有很大的差距。實習生們需要組成隊伍進行比賽,獲得最高分的一隊便會成員Google的成式員工。他倆最後「被分組」,和另外三位被排斥的實習生一組:手機焦慮症的Stuart(Dylan O'Brien飾)、母親管教很嚴的Yo-Yo(Tobit Raphael飾)和印裔女生Neha(Tiya Sircar飾),並由安全感不足的項目經理Lyle(Josh Brener飾)領軍。解碼任務令Billy和Nick的無能顯得很清楚,他們更被組員戲弄,令隊伍的士氣很差劣,直至後來的魁地奇比賽才令他們變得團結。創作電話應用程式比賽緊接而至,隊伍在經過一番苦惱後到酒吧消遣。Billy和Nick鼓勵Lyle及組員打開自己的心扉體驗生活。Yo-Yo學會放縱自己,Neha脫離對現實生活的恐懼,Lyle向自己心儀的對象告白,Stuart也明白珍惜身邊的事物,最後這次經驗令他們充滿靈感成功反敗為勝。Billy對客戶服務比賽感到擔心,幸得一位不愛談話並戴耳機的員工幫忙,但由於他的疏忽令隊伍的分數變成零。Nick和上司Dana(Rose Byrne飾)談情之際,要協助隊伍把出走的Billy勸回,進行最後一個回合──推銷比賽。Billy明白自己的看法,決定回歸隊中,並向一間當地的薄餅店推銷Google的廣告服務。他們在最後關頭勝出了比賽,取得工作合約後,各自繼續自己的生活。

Vince Vaughn為此電影擔任監製及編劇,其實他有很多電影的才能,並且對演藝圈非常有熱誠。他的成名作為Swingers,及後也參演過重拍版的Psycho,但他的喜劇演出如Wedding CrashersThe Break-Up則為人津津樂道。他在這電影的演出看得出很有誠意,但在角色的兩種性格表露並沒有很大的闡釋,搞笑詼諧的性格覆蓋他本來的態度。他的下一部推介是Business Trip,他的喜劇細胞應該會和同劇演員擦出不錯的火花。Owen Wilson是一名喜劇演員,和不少紅星如Ben Stiller和成龍合作過不少電影。他的演技憑Midnight in Paris得到肯定,而他繼續參演不同題材的喜劇。他在這電影的演出雖然看來和Vince Vaughn相輔相成,但很多時候都像作陪襯一樣,他的喜劇演出也沒有很多的驚喜,所以他留下的印象不算很深刻。他的下一部推介是The Grand Budapest Hotel,這電影有很多的演員參演並以特別的手法製作,相信會有不錯的表現。

電影雖然沒有很多劇情上的工夫,但透過簡單並能預計的劇情帶出不同的訊息,這是值得一讚的,尤其對比起大部分的港產片。電影的吸引之處是帶觀眾到Google總部參觀,而且比賽形式的內容可以提高電影的娛樂性。電影的演員們不算有太大的突破,但飾演主角三位組員的年青演員值得一讚,在形象及演技上令觀眾有意想不到的驚喜,沒有他們的演出會令電影變得乏味非常。在Google工作的確不是一件很容易的事情,儘管電影有點像為該公司宣傳,但起碼讓我們明白箇中的細節,但我們選擇工作時不應該只以公司的評價作決定,最重要的始終是我們的興趣。

自從千禧年代出現了Harry PotterThe Lord of Rings系列後,科幻世界電影便在市場上大行其道,雖然這些作品均是改編自已有的青年讀物,但在電影製作上可算是史無前例。在這些電影在電影界別興起的同時,不少水準一般的系列如TwilightPercy Jackson也吸引到很多觀眾的入場,令不少的青年都幻想自己能活在這些科幻世界中,化成電影中的英雄進行拯救任務,因此相關的電話遊戲應用程式大受歡迎。新科幻系列The Mortal Instruments以一貫風格製作,但在評價及票房方面都未如理想,一度令續集製作叫停,現在已經開始籌備,所以影迷們不用失望。Clary Fray(Lily Collins飾)看見一個神秘符號,並和異性密友Simon Lewis(Robert Sheehan飾)到酒吧消遣,但只得她目睹兇案的發生,並記著Jace Wayland(Jamie Campbell Bower飾)是兇手。她的母親被人以暴力帶走,但她在之前令自己處於沉睡狀態,並警告Clary要小心名叫Valentine(Jonathan Rhys Meyers飾)的男子。Jace在Clary家中救回她的性命,並告知她真正的身份,身為魔都獵人的她也遺傳了母親的技能,把事物收藏在書內。一名Clary的鄰居估計她母親被擄走的原因是Mortal Cup,這道具可以控制魔都獵人及人類。作為人類的Simon終於可以看到魔都獵人的存在,在拯救母親男友Luke的時候遇到另外兩個魔都獵人Alec Lightwood(Kevin Zegers飾)和Isabelle Lightwood(Jemima West飾),他們反對把受了傷的Simon留醫,但最後經過他們的首領Hodge的同意便收留他。Clary在一次通靈後便和其他人找到母親的朋友Magnus(高以翔飾),Magnus透露封印Clary記憶的決定是她母親的意思。惡魔及後綁架Simon,目的為了把魔都獵人引出來,在他們寡不敵眾的時候,他們的盟友狼人把惡魔擊退。Clary和Jace互生情愫,但礙於Simon對Clary的愛意,令他們的發展產生障礙。Clary終於知道Mortal Cup的下落,但在爭奪的期間令Alec受了重傷。Clary把Mortal Cup交予Hodge,豈料他已變節和Valentine合作。Valentine和Clary的父女關係也就此公開,她拒絕合作並向Luke求助。雙方持續的對戰令魔都獵人這邊非常弱勢,Simon和Isabelle合力關掉天窗後戰爭結束,Magnus也趕至把Alec復原。Valentine訛稱Jace為他的兒子,意圖把兩人拉攏,但Clary利用智慧暫時解除危險及救回母親,Simon和她的關係也和好如初,Jace和Clary便返回魔都獵人的世界。

Jamie Campbell Bower出道時間短,憑著英俊的外型獲得不少的演出機會,也先後參演過其他的科幻系列電影,他的成名作是Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street。這是他第一部擔綱的電影,演出的素質當然不能有太大的期望,他的演出很像青年電視劇的主角一樣,但這些的演員要經過很多的路才能更進一步,所以他還是要經過不同演出的磨練。他的下一部作品是Overdrive,電影的賣點又是他的樣貌,我想他需要很突破的演出才能擺脫花瓶的形象。Lily Collins是模特兒出身,沒有很多的演出經驗便能夠和不少紅星對戲,不過全部都是小的角色,她戲份較多的參演電影包括Mirror MirrorAbductionThe English Teacher。她的演出其實不過不失,但看起來沒甚麼特別,平庸得能被其他同等的女星取代,這與她沒有在角色情感上下苦功有關。她的下一部推介是Love, Rosie,愛情喜劇的演出她並沒有很多,所以都值得期待一下她在另一類電影的演出。Jonathan Rhys Meyers曾是型男的代表,在電影Match Point的演出令人眼前一亮,但之後他的事業並未有很好的起色,特別在電影方面。他的演出其實是形象配合角色的選角,他的確很適合出演這個角色,但演技也沒甚麼好討論的。他暫時未有新的電影參演,不過主演的電視劇Dracula正在熱播,他可能可以在電視圈殺出一條血路。

電影的感覺與一般的科幻電影無異,只是多了一層黑暗及陰森,而且又是英雄拯救世界的片段。雖然個人很喜歡看這種刺激但不恐怖的電影,不過也理解得到其成績為何這麼差劣。電影的劇本沒有寫得十分好,在塑造角色的工夫顯然很不認真,角色的性格及全部有關的細節都很隨意,反而著重在把原著的驚險場面透過特效展示,不少人看完後會認為這有欺騙觀眾入場之嫌,很難怪早前製片商會擱置續集的計劃。我提議下一輯應該用更多畫面把不同角色的性格多加描述,而且配合重要的主線劇情,這起碼看起來不會太粗製濫造,這也是Harry Potter成功之道。另外一提的是亞洲演員在西方影圈的發展,近年這已經很普遍,但仍然未能把大量好的演員帶上國際舞台,有機會的演員除了盡更大的努力把自己介紹給不同地方的觀眾外,還應趁機透過演出及應酬為自己家鄉的同業帶來更多機會,這才做到真正的演技交流。
