2018 Academy Awards Full List Final Prediction and Will/Should Win Plus Deliberations (For Some Awards)

Stay tune for the Academy Awards on 5 March to see who is going to win big that day!! Here are my final predictions.

BEST PICTURE
Call Me by Your Name
Darkest Hour
Dunkirk
Get Out
Lady Bird
Phantom Thread
The Post
The Shape of Water
Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri
Will Win: Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri
Could Win: Get Out
Should Win: Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri
Personal Favorite: Call Me by Your Name
Deliberation: Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri is very meaningful as the message is very down to earth. It is generally what normal people encounters in their lives and letting go is an important life skill. Get Out resonates once again with the minority in the USA and the storyline is very original and unexpected. Lady Bird discusses growth of adolescence which embarks on the rebellious childhood of audience. Call Me by Your Name is produced in a very beautiful way and the romance is exceptionally touching. This movie definitely becomes a gay romance classic of all time. The Shape of Water is a romantic Sci-Fi which promotes love without boundaries. The beautiful presentation makes audience remember the scenes easily. The other pictures are fair enough to be nominated. Out of the eight nominees this year, I have watched seven of them (not including Get Out and Phantom Thread).

BEST ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE
Timothée Chalamet, Call Me by Your Name
Daniel Day-Lewis, Phantom Thread
Daniel Kaluuya, Get Out
Gary Oldman, Darkest Hour
Denzel Washington, Roman J. Israel, Esq.
Will Win: Gary Oldman, Darkest Hour
Could Win: Timothée Chalamet, Call Me by Your Name
Should Win: Timothée Chalamet, Call Me by Your Name
Personal Favorite: Timothée Chalamet, Call Me by Your Name
Deliberation: Gary Oldman earns respect from voters as a profession veteran actor and he seems getting locked. However, Timothée Chalamet gave the best performance and he may be able to upset Gary Oldman. I personally want it to happen so badly. His portrayal touches audience's heart. Two Daniels and Denzel Washington are not comparable to the two aforementioned performances. Out of the five nominees, I have watched two of their performances (not including Daniel Day-Lewis, Daniel Kaluuya and Denzel Washington).

BEST ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE
Sally Hawkins, The Shape of Water
Frances McDormand, Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri
Margot Robbie, I, Tonya
Saoirse Ronan, Lady Bird
Meryl Streep, The Post
Will Win: Frances McDormand, Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri
Could Win: Saoirse Ronan, Lady Bird
Should Win: Frances McDormand, Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri
Personal Favorite: Margot Robbie, I, Tonya
Deliberation: Frances McDormand deserves to win even though she is not popular in the Academy. Saoirse Ronan gave a very strong performance as a rebellious teenager and she is indeed as good as Frances McDormand. Sally Hawkins gave it all in this nomination but she does not have the boost. Margot Robbie surprises me the most as she made the character very charismatic. Meryl Streep is nominated as record most again and I would like to see her win some days later. Out of the five nominees, I have watched all of their performances.

BEST ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE
Willem Dafoe, The Florida Project
Woody Harrelson, Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri
Richard Jenkins, The Shape of Water
Christopher Plummer, All the Money in the World
Sam Rockwell, Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri
Will Win: Sam Rockwell, Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri
Could Win: Willem Dafoe, The Florida Project
Should Win: Sam Rockwell, Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri
Personal Favorite: Sam Rockwell, Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri
Deliberation: Sam Rockwell finally lands a nomination for his brilliant acting and he is going to win it this time. Willem Dafoe is the early frontrunner who can grab the statue due to his overdue status also. Richard Jenkins and Christopher Plummer delivered good performances in their movies respectively but they are not outstanding enough to win. Woody Harrelson is a surprise as two actors in Call Me by Your Name should not be snubbed. This is the symbol of love from voters for the movie. Out of the five nominees, I have watched four of their performance (not including Willem Dafoe).

BEST ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE
Mary J. Blige, Mudbound
Allison Janney, I, Tonya
Lesley Manville, Phantom Thread
Laurie Metcalf, Lady Bird
Octavia Spencer, The Shape of Water
Will Win: Allison Janney, I, Tonya
Could Win: Laurie Metcalf, Lady Bird
Should Win: Allison Janney, I, Tonya
Personal Favorite: Allison Janney, I, Tonya
Deliberation: Allison Janney and Laurie Metcalf are TV veteran actresses who were great in movies last year. The former is a wicked mom while the latter is opposite. Allison Janney is heading to the road but Laurie Metcalf can be the upset by any means. Octavia Spencer is in for three time in this category but it is not really worth for her to be here this year. Out of the five nominees, I have watched three of their performances (not including Mary J. Blige and Lesley Manville).

BEST ANIMATED FEATURE FILM
The Boss Baby
The Breadwinner
Coco
Ferdinand
Loving Vincent
Will Win: Coco
Could Win: The Breadwinner
Should Win: Loving Vincent
Personal Favorite: Loving Vincent
Deliberation: The nominees of this year are quite surprising with The Boss Baby getting in. Coco from Pixar seems to be a sure bet without very strong competitors. The Breadwinner is a more realistic project while Loving Vincent is the most beautiful and innovative animation of all five. I hope that there will be upset in the morning. Out of the five nominees, I have watched four of them (not including The Breadwinner).

Personal Favorite: Mark Bridges, Phantom Thread

BEST DIRECTING
Christopher Nolan, Dunkirk
Jordan Peele, Get Out
Greta Gerwig, Lady Bird
Paul Thomas Anderson, Phantom Thread
Guillermo del Toro, The Shape of Water
Will Win: Guillermo del Toro, The Shape of Water
Could Win: Greta Gerwig, Lady Bird
Should Win: Guillermo del Toro, The Shape of Water
Personal Favorite: Greta Gerwig, Lady Bird
Deliberation: Guillermo del Toro should be recognized this year for the beautiful piece of work he directed last year. Regardless the message of the picture, the presentation is very artistic and cinematic. Christopher Nolan did a good job to show us the scenes of World War II from his insight. Jordan Peele deserves much more praise from his work as not just bringing the rare issue once again, but also created a movie in an unexpected turn. Even though Greta Gerwig has a slighter chance to win, her dedication can eventually be rewarded with a nomination. Paul Thomas Anderson can be a dark horse as we don't see his picture coming so strong in this year of award. Out of the five nominees, I have watched three of their performances (not including Get Out and Phantom Thread).
